All change at Warsaw
The DB Bahn booking system – vital trainspotting intel!
Some frustration here at “Toad Hall” today. It seems that the simplest part of my journey is proving the most troublesome to arrange. Although I have my ticket for the Trans Mongolian now ready to collect, its still not yet possible to issue a ticket from Amsterdam to Moscow. I can’t really see why, but those I have spoken to think its to do with the change over to winter timetables the week before I leave.
I saw a video of the E447 arriving back Amsterdam on YouTube and its a mix of all sorts of stuff – you can see it here and here (warning – do not follow these links unless you are a true train anorak – luke warm lemon drink was probably involved in the making of these films). There are parts of the train going to all the corners of Europe as it shuffles its carriages during the journey.
Anyway, my ticket will hopefully eventually get issued, possibly with an unplanned change in Warsaw if the DB system is actually correct.. although my agent commented that the Germans could not possibly understand the plans of a Russian train!
My ticket will be issued in Moscow and sent to me DHL – as always I feel confident in Real Russia’s ability to get things sorted, but I’m still crossing my fingers on this one!

I bump into your blog by accident. I am doing the Trans Manchurian route and will be leaving to Moscow from Berlin tomorrow morning at 4:30am. It is exciting to see someone else like yourself who is currently on the similar route! I wish you all the best and have lots of fun!
